Components of the World Wide Web

 WHAT DOES WWW CONSIST OF?

The World Wide Web is a vast and interconnected network of digital information that is accessible through the internet. The key components of the World Wide Web include:

Uniform Resource Locator (URL): 
 Serves as a system for resources on the web. Every web page has a different URL. It is a unique web address.

Hyper Text Transfer Protocol (HTTP): 
 Specifies communication of browser and server. It also ensures the proper transfer of documents over the internet.

Hyper Text Markup Language (HTML):
 Defines the structure, organization and content of a webpage. Allows user to create web pages with text and graphics too.

Web Pages:
Documents written in HTML and hosted on the internet.

Web Browsers:
Software application through which one searches and accesses information on WWW. Examples: Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, etc.

  • Web Servers:
  • Responsible for providing web content. It primarily hosts websites and allows the clients or Internet users to access these sites.

Web Portals:
Gateway to wide range of internet services, such as e-mail, search engines, forums, etc.

How does WWW work? Functioning of the World wide web The user uses a software known as a Web browser to request the web for a document or web page located somewhere on the web. The user types in the URL into the Web browser, who is the Client .  The request sent by the client is managed by HTTP, and is known as as an HTTP Request. The request is sent to the Web server. What is the world wide web? It is a set of programs, standards, and protocols which governs the manner of creating and displaying the multimedia files on the internet. It is a hyperlinked and continuous network of documents. The world wide web, commonly known as the web is a way of accessing information on the Internet, which consists of thousands of documents called Web Pages . These web pages can be linked to each other by Hyper links. For the transfer of these web pages, along with the various images, documents, videos, and text in them, the Web uses the Hyper Text Transfer Protocol (HTTP). The WWW is the most significant database of human knowledge. It is an information-sharing model built on the internet.
