 WHAT DOES WWW CONSIST OF?

The World Wide Web is a vast and interconnected network of digital information that is accessible through the internetThe key components of the World Wide Web include:

Uniform Resource Locator (URL): 
 Serves as a system for resources on the web. Every web page has a different URL. It is a unique web address.

Hyper Text Transfer Protocol (HTTP): 
 Specifies communication of browser and server. It also ensures the proper transfer of documents over the internet.

Hyper Text Markup Language (HTML):
 Defines the structure, organization and content of a webpage. Allows user to create web pages with text and graphics too.

Web Pages:
Documents written in HTML and hosted on the internet.

Web Browsers:
Software application through which one searches and accesses information on WWW. Examples: Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, etc.

  • Responsible for providing web content. It primarily hosts websites and allows the clients or Internet users to access these sites.

Web Portals:
Gateway to wide range of internet services, such as e-mail, search engines, forums, etc.
